Privacy

Tend reads your contacts in your browser, helps you sort them, and builds your calendar locally. Contact names, phone numbers, assignments, and calendar contents are not sent to Tend's servers.

Optional feedback

If you choose to submit the feedback form, your rating, selected answers, and optional written comment are sent to our database. The form does not request your name or email address. Our hosting infrastructure may still process technical request data such as an IP address.

Founding test reports

Founding testers may deliberately submit an anonymous lifecycle report containing the calendar provider tested, which setup and removal steps succeeded, a confidence score, an issue category, and optional written details. The form asks testers not to include contact names, phone numbers, or calendar contents. These reports are not collected automatically and cannot be read through the public website.

Your contact file

When you upload your .vcf file, it is read by JavaScript running in your own browser tab. The file never travels over the internet. We never see it. Tend may keep the active workflow, including parsed contacts and detected birthdays, in sessionStorage so a refresh does not erase your progress. Your browser clears sessionStorage when that browser session ends.

Private notes and meaningful dates

Notes and meaningful dates stay in the active browser session. Notes are excluded from calendar files by default. If you explicitly include a note, it becomes part of the downloaded calendar event and can be seen by anyone or any service with access to that calendar.

Call completion

Calendar reminders link to a generic Tend completion page. If you mark a call complete, the count is saved only in that browser. Tend does not receive the contact name, phone number, or call history, and it cannot automatically verify whether a call occurred.

Your assignments and settings

As you sort contacts into tiers and configure your schedule, that work is saved in your browser's localStorage so it is still there if you come back. localStorage is local to your device and never leaves it. None of it is ever sent to a server.

Adding someone later

If a recovery manifest is available in the browser, you can manually enter one new person and generate an add-only calendar update. The name and number are processed locally. The updated manifest preserves existing event identifiers, and its removal file contains cancellations only for the newly added reminders.

The .ics file

Your calendar file is built entirely in your browser and downloaded straight to your device. Tend never receives a copy. Once it hits your Downloads folder, it has nothing to do with us.

No hosted calendar subscription

The current version of Tend creates files for you to download and import. It does not host a calendar feed, continuously synchronise your reminders, or retain the contact and calendar information needed to do that. If Tend offers hosted syncing in the future, it will be a separately labelled, optional mode with explicit consent and a clear explanation of what is stored, for how long, and how to delete it. The local mode will not silently become hosted syncing.

The download counter

We increment one aggregate number when a calendar is downloaded. We do not add contact data, names, or calendar contents to that record. The request still passes through our hosting infrastructure, which may process standard technical request data.

Hosting

Tend runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel logs basic server data (page requests, IP addresses) as part of running the infrastructure. That is Vercel's data, not ours. You can read their privacy policy if you want the details.

Verify it yourself

Contact parsing, scheduling, and calendar creation happen in your browser, and no account is required. Your browser's network tab can verify that contact and calendar data are not uploaded. It will also show the limited feedback and aggregate download-counter requests described above.
